Environment

As a developed country we are fortunate to be able to clothe ourselves with affordable, good quality items. But inevitably a proportion of our wardrobe doesn’t get worn, goes out of fashion or we simply don’t like it any more.

When that happens we simply throw out our unwanted clothing - in fact, we throw out close to a MILLION tonnes of unwanted textiles each year!
But what happens to all of these unloved shoes, clothes and bedding?
Only 25% of our unwanted textiles get recycled with the remainder ending up in landfill sites, which we are aware, is not the best environmentally friendly option.
What does LCRSL do to help?
LCRSL provides a service to local communities by offering a free doorstep collection service on a regular basis.
By working with our charitable partners we post bags through your door on their behalf asking for you to donate your unwanted textiles.
We then collect, sort and ethically dispose of these items to under privileged and developing countries. Through the sale of these items we are able to raise vital funds for our charitable partners, but that’s not all.
Only part of the story
There are many other advantages to our recycling story, not only are we all helping the environment, and raising funds for our favourite charity, but there is a social and economic role to play too.
The clothes recycling industry helps to sustain a large workforce both here in the UK and abroad, adding to the economy and providing employment.
Plus our donators have a simple, hassle free way to unclutter their home and dispose of their unwanted textiles.
